TG4 has further strengthened its position as the year-round provider of GAA television coverage following the announcement of the results of the Association's tender process for media rights (Television and Radio) for 2011-2014.
Under the new agreement, TG4 will continue to have exclusive tv rights on Sundays to Allianz League games and the Irish language channel will also continue to hold exclusive live television rights to club and colleges games.
In addition, the channel has also secured the television rights to a new mid-week package of live Wednesday night games from the Ulster Bank Third Level Colleges Competitions and the Cadburys U21 Football Championship.
TG4 Leascheannasaí, Pádhraic Ó Ciardha says that the Irish language channel is very happy with the outcome of the GAA media rights tender process. "We are extremely satisfied to have retained our Allianz League, AIB Club and Colleges Championship television rights," he said, "thus ensuring free to air Sunday coverage for these important components of the GAA calendar."
Mr Ó Ciardha also stressed the importance of the new rights package secured by TG4 which will see the introduction of live mid-week television coverage from the Third Level Colleges Competitions and the Under 21 Football Championship. "The súil eile approach has driven our GAA coverage from the outset," he said , "and this is another exciting and pioneering initiative."
