TG4 Comedy Drama Series set for Monte Carlo Festival

'An Crisis' receives 6 Golden Nymph Nominations

An Crisis which is currently airing on TG4 and is produced by Wildfire films has received six Golden Nymph nominations at the acclaimed Monte-Carlo Television Festival 2010. The acclaimed series is a six part comedy drama that chronicles the strange world of ACT (An Chomhairle Teanga), an Irish language organisation that seems to be following policies that are quite unusual.

It airs on Wednesday nights at 10.30pm on TG4 and is repeated on Saturday evenings at 8.40pm.

Risteard Cooper and Conor MacNeill have been nominated in the category of 'Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series'. In the 'Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series' category, Norma Sheahan and Michelle Beamish have been nominated.

Producers Martha O'Neill (Wildfire Films) and Micheál Ó Meallaigh (TG4) have been nominated in two separate categories 'Outstanding International Producer' and 'Outstanding European Producer'.

TG4's Commissioning Director, Micheál Ó Meallaigh, says that everyone at the channel is delighted with the Monte-Carlo nominations for this series. "Original comedy drama is one of the greatest challenges of all, particularly in Irish and we are thrilled at this latest international recognition for one of our projects. The audience and critical reaction in Ireland to this series has been uniformly positive and its great to see that our brand of humour can travel too."

Martha O'Neill, Wildfire Films producer is very excited "To receive multiple nominations at such a prestigious International event as the Monte Carlo television festival is quite an achievement and an honour. We are thrilled, not just for Wildfire films but also on behalf of our commissioners TG4 without whom this wouldn't have happened".

The Monte-Carlo Television festival, which is now in its 50th year, is a prestigious annual event which celebrates the best of Television programming. Prince Rainier III of Monaco founded it and his ambition was to recognize television as an exceptional means of bringing cultures together and enhancing their respective knowledge. This year's winners will be announced on June 10th 2009.
