TG4’s Christmas schedule will keep you in the festive mood with more than a few crackers. Brand new documentaries include a fly on the wall chronicle of Michael D. Higgins’ successful Presidential campaign in Michael D. Rás go dtí an tÁras. Another profiles and pays tribute to one of our most talented and respected actors in Ray McAnally - M’athair. Author and journalist Catherine Foley tells us the story of the man from Armenia who settled in Cork and whose mouth-watering sweets wowed the world in Hadji Beys.
The Christmas season also brings the finales of popular entertainment competition series Pitch Perfect, Glór Tíre and Ceist GAA le Hector.
Top class traditional music comes to us from the renowned Matt Molloy’s pub in Westport in Geantraí na Nollaig as The Chieftains celebrate 50 years in the music business and they are joined by special guests. We also see an intimate portrait of the traditional Irish music family group Na Casaidigh and the influences that shaped it.
TG4’s soap Ros na Rún takes a look at the spirit of Christmas past with a special programme presenter by actors Fionnuala Ní Fhlatharta (Berni) & Máire Eilis Ní Fhlatharta (Caitríona).
Sporting events have kept us enthralled for the past twelve months and over Christmas you have another chance to see some of these major events like both hurling and football All-Ireland finals. We’ll also feature a look back at the best Gaelic games action of 2011, live rugby action from the RaboDirect PRO12 and exclusive highlights from the Heineken Cup.
