Orla Ní Threasaigh's Meal
Spaghetti
Bolognaise
Ingredients:
- 450g minced
beef
- 3 carrots
- 2
red/yellow peppers
- 1 onion
- 1 garlic
clove
- 2 tins of
tomatoes
- 1 pint of
beef stock
- 1
tablespoon of tomato puree
- 1
tablespoon of sugar
- 1
tablespoon of herbs (oregano, basil,etc.)
- Salt and
pepper to taste
- Olive oil
Method:
- Heat the
oil in the frying pan and brown the beef.
- Add the
onion and garlic to it.
- Cut the
peppers and carrots and add to the meat.
- Pour the
meat from the pan into a pot.
- Add the
tins of tomatoes, tomato puree and stock to the pot.
- Add the
herbs, sugar and salt and pepper to the sauce.
- Let the
sauce simmer on a low heat for 10-15 minutes.
- Boil the
spaghetti in boiling water for 10-15 minutes.
- Serve the
sauce on a bed of spaghetti.
Dessert
Fruit Flan
Ingredients:
- 3oz self raising flour
- 3oz caster sugar
- 3 eggs
- Mixture of fruit
- Whipped cream
Method:
- Beat the
sugar and the eggs in a bowl until the mixture thickens.
- With a
metal spoon, fold in the flour.
- Pour the
mixture into a tin.
- Place in
the oven at 180C for 20-25 or until it has a golden colour.
- Beat the
cream and spread on the flan.
- Wash and
cut the fruit, you can choose a variety.
- Decorate
the flan with the fruit.
- Serve
with a little cream.
