We uncover the plight of the Common Eel, a species of fish familiar to us all. The eel population of Ireland has fallen drastically. We also take a look at the Beaver, whose fur was highly valued by the Irish. Finally we get to see the Bittern (or Bonnán Buí) bird that features so strongly in Irish poetry and song. The Bittern has not bred in Ireland for over a hundred years.
