The tradition of lighting bonfires on certain days of the year lives on in many areas as does the occasional fire to mark sporting achievements, weddings and other occasions. This week we visit urban Bonfires on May Day in Limerick where local children explain the tradition and their desire to keep it alive. In studio Stiofán Ó Cadhla explains the history and significance of the bonfire season and we visit Mícheál 'Toose' Mac Gearailt on St. John's Eve in West Kerry.

"The search for the best traditional dance act in Ireland continues. All forms of Irish dancing are eligible for the series, from step dancing to brush dancing, from Sean-nós dancing to set dancers. This is the ultimate free-for-all Irish dance competition and a celebration of all the Irish dancing traditions. But only one act can be crowned champion and will claim the title of TG4's Best Traditional Irish Dance Act 2014. The story of the Dunnes Store strike in 1984, when Mary Manning a 21 year old worker at Dunnes Stores in Henry Street, Dublin refused to register the sale of an Outspan grapefruit under a directive from her union in support of the anti-apartheid struggle and the boycott of South African produce in Ireland. She and ten other workers who supported her action were suspended from work with immediate effect and a strike ensued. This documentary explores this historic strike and the struggles that strikers had with their own union, the Church and the Government in fighting for their principles.
