TG4’s IFTA 2015 Shortlist


An Bronntanas has received 3 nominations for the IFTA awards.

An Bronntanas has received 3 nominations for the IFTA awards for script and actors. Tom Collins/Eoin McNamee/Paul Walker are nominated for Best Drama Script, Michelle Beamish is nominated for Best Actress in a Lead Role and Charlotte Bradley for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. The film version of An Bronntanas has enjoyed great success in recent months at festivals both at home and abroad. To date screenings have taken place in Australia, Barbados, Washington, Chicago, Boston and Rome, with more to come in later months this year. The film recently received the Jury’s Special Award at the Boston Irish Film Festival as well as receiving three nominations in this year’s Gradaim Chumarsáide an Oireachtais, including a nomination for ‘Best Television Series’.

Also nominated in the Actress in a Lead Role category is Maria Doyle Kennedy for her role as Mairéad in Corp + Anam; an acclaimed and award-winning gritty crime thriller that chronicles the difficult professional and intense personal life of a tenacious TV crime reporter.

Blood Fruit has received a nomination in the George Morrison Feature Documentary category. This documentary tells the story of the Dunnes Store strike in 1984, when Mary Manning a 21 year old worker at Dunnes Stores in Henry Street, Dublin refused to register the sale of an Outspan grapefruit, an action which had worldwide repercussions.

Song of the Sea/Amhrán na Mara commissioned by TG4 and BAI has been nominated in two categories; Best Film and Script Film- Will Collins.

Full details of the TG4 shortlisted entries for IFTA 2015 are given below. The IFTA Awards are the most prestigious awards in Irish film and drama.

Director General Pól Ó Gallchóir, congratulated the shortlisted TG4 productions and skills nominees for this year’s IFTA. “TG4 has received nominations and prizes at each IFTA since we came on air” he said. “Being nominated in the same categories that include some of the best quality English language TV content available anywhere, bears out the regular feedback we receive from viewers and critics who associate TG4 with distinctive quality and innovation”, he said.
