Programme 10 – Rónán Mac Aodha Bhuí
Broadcaster and Raidió na Gaeltachta legend Rónán Mac Aodha Bhuí takes us back to the news and events on the day he was born, 6th May 1970. On this day Irish rally driver Rosemary Smith was competing in the 17,000 mile London to Mexico rally. Also on the day he was born, the fight for women’s liberty in Ireland was entering a new phase. Women were second class citizens who, for example, weren’t permitted to work in the civil service if married and couldn’t drink in bars. Also on that day, Celtic were preparing to play Feyenoord in the European Cup final.
