A powerful new TG4 documentary, Plant the Planet – GAA in Uganda, explores the global reach of the GAA and the unifying power of sport, culture, and community across continents.
\n <\/p>\n

Set against\u00a0the\u00a0vibrant backdrop of\u00a0Uganda,\u00a0the\u00a0programme follows a group of\u00a0inter-county Gaelic players who travel to East Africa for a transformative week-long\u00a0initiative.\u00a0Their mission is twofold: to support environmental sustainability through\u00a0the\u00a0planting of one million trees and to strengthen\u00a0the\u00a0growing\u00a0GAA\u00a0community\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0region.
\n <\/p>\n

At the heart of the documentary is the inspiring story of the Simba Wolfhounds, a Ugandan club that has embraced Gaelic Games as its own. Through their journey, the visiting players witness first-hand how the core values of the GAA, community, pride and inclusivity, transcend borders and resonate deeply within new cultures.
\n <\/p>\n

A landmark moment captured\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0documentary is\u00a0the\u00a0construction of\u00a0Uganda\u2019s first-ever handball court,\u00a0introducing\u00a0the\u00a0sport to more than 1,000 children and further embedding Gaelic Games within local communities.
\n <\/p>\n

Produced\u00a0in\u00a0collaboration with\u00a0Self Help Africa,\u00a0the\u00a0Gaelic Players Association (GPA) and\u00a0Warriors for Humanity,\u00a0the\u00a0documentary highlights\u00a0the\u00a0profound social impact of sport as a vehicle for connection, empowerment, and long-term development.
\n <\/p>\n

While\u00a0the\u00a0GAA\u00a0remains firmly rooted\u00a0in\u00a0Irish identity, Plant\u00a0the\u00a0Planet\u00a0\u2013\u00a0GAA\u00a0in\u00a0Uganda\u00a0demonstrates how its spirit has travelled far beyond Ireland\u2019s shores, fostering belonging,\u00a0inspiring communities and building a shared global culture through sport.
\n <\/p>\n

The\u00a0programme was produced by Nemeton TV, a leading\u00a0independent production company specialising\u00a0in\u00a0sport and live broadcast content.\u00a0
