TG4 is delighted to announce a new five-year broadcast rights extension for the Tour de France, ensuring that Irish audiences can continue to watch one of the world\u2019s greatest sporting events free-to-air on TG4 until 2030.

\nThe new agreement will see TG4 continue to bring comprehensive Irish-language coverage of the Tour de France to viewers across the country, with live coverage of every stage available on TG4, TG4 Player and the TG4 App.
\n 
\nThe Tour de France has long held a special place in the hearts of Irish sports fans, and recent editions have delivered unforgettable Irish moments. In 2020, Sam Bennett won two stages of the Tour de France and claimed the famous green jersey as winner of the Points Classification, becoming the first Irish rider in 31 years to win the prestigious classification.
\n 
\nIn 2025, Ben Healy produced another landmark moment for Irish cycling, claiming the first Tour de France stage win of his career on stage 6. The 24-year-old later became only the fourth Irish rider to wear the famous yellow jersey, following Shay Elliott, Se\u00e1n Kelly and Stephen Roche.
\n 
\nThe 113th edition of the Tour de France begins on Saturday 4 July with a spectacular 19.7km team time trial in Barcelona, beginning along the city\u2019s seafront before a demanding final stretch towards Montju\u00efc Olympic Stadium. The race concludes on Sunday 26 July with the iconic final stage from Thoiry to Paris Champs-\u00c9lys\u00e9es.
\n 
\nAcross 21 stages, riders will cover 3,333km and tackle every type of terrain, including 7 flat stages, 4 hilly stages, 8 mountain stages, 1 team time trial and 1 individual time trial, with 2 rest days along the way. The 2026 route will include major mountain challenges in the Pyrenees, Massif Central, Vosges, Jura and Alps, with summit finishes including Gavarnie-G\u00e8dre, Plateau de Solaison, Orci\u00e8res-Merlette and Alpe d\u2019Huez.
\n 
\nTG4\u2019s comprehensive coverage will feature live broadcasts of every stage on TG4, TG4 Player and the TG4 App, with commentary once again provided by fan favourites P\u00e1id\u00ed \u00d3 Lion\u00e1ird and P\u00e1draic \u00d3 Cuinn. The pair will guide viewers through the twists and turns, climbs and sprints of the peloton as it tackles the French countryside, cities, coastlines and alpine peaks.
\nThe TG4 coverage will also include a daily highlights show with the best of the day\u2019s action each evening at 9pm.
