Donegal.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The event brought together representatives from across the Irish-language media sector to discuss the opportunities, challenges and future development of the industry in Donegal.<\/p>\n<p>Designed as an interactive industry forum, the day gave production companies, creators, media professionals and aspiring entrants an opportunity to share their views directly with TG4 and \u00dadar\u00e1s na Gaeltachta. Discussions focused on the skills, supports and career opportunities needed to strengthen and grow the sector in the years ahead.<\/p>\n<p>The event follows the appointment of Karina Feirt\u00e9ar as Head of Media Career Training, a joint training and development initiative established by TG4 and \u00dadar\u00e1s na Gaeltachta.<\/p>\n<p>Under this strategic three-year partnership, TG4 and \u00dadar\u00e1s na Gaeltachta will invest 1.2 Million Euro annually between now and the end of 2028 to develop new talent, strengthen industry skills and support the continued growth of the independent Irish language production sector.<\/p>\n<p>Karina Feirt\u00e9ar brings almost 30 years of experience in Irish language media. Most recently, she served as Channel Manager of C\u00fala4 and has held a number of senior roles within TG4 across content development, production and young people\u2019s programming.<\/p>\n<p>In her new role, she will lead training and professional development initiatives and work to create clearer career pathways for people already working in the sector, as well as those seeking to build a career in Irish language media.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Deirdre N\u00ed Choist\u00edn, Director General of TG4<\/strong> said: <em>&#8220;supporting creativity, development and evolution of the independent production sector in the Gaeltacht is central to TG4\u2019s strategy. TG4 will soon announce three new content output contracts in Gaeltacht areas outside of Connemara in an effort to provide a platform for growth in other Gaeltacht areas. This three-year partnership with \u00dadar\u00e1s na Gaeltachta will enable the sector to have a strategic approach to professional development, identify current skills gaps and future skills needed in the sector.&#8221;<\/em><br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Karina Feirt\u00e9ar, Head of Media Career Training&#8217;<\/strong> said: <em>\u201cWe have a significant opportunity to build on the talent and expertise that already exists within the Irish language media sector and to create clearer pathways for people who want to develop a career in the industry. \u201cIt is essential that we hear directly from the sector about the skills, supports and opportunities it needs. Donegal Industry Day will give us a valuable opportunity to have that conversation and to explore how we can work together to support the future growth of the industry in the region.\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tom\u00e1s \u00d3 Sioch\u00e1in, Chief Executive of \u00dadar\u00e1s na Gaeltachta<\/strong> said, <em>\u201cThis investment reflects \u00dadar\u00e1s na Gaeltachta\u2019s commitment to supporting the continued growth of the Irish language media sector in Donegal.
