This is a portrait of the artist as a young man, which in turn is a portrait of every musical artist as they endeavour to remain authentic yet stand out in a world of “algorithm and blues”. Produced by Tua Films with support from ilDÁNA -The Arts Council & TG4.

Beo Faoin bhFód 1Friday 11th July 11.30am Pálás
In 1968, Mick Meaney was buried six feet under the London soil in a simple wooden coffin. Hundreds came to see his burial, and toast Mick on his way. The thing was, Mick was not dead. He was competing in the world record competition for ‘Longest Time Spent Buried Alive’.
Incredibly, Mick was not the first. Our story begins in 1920s California and ends with a Dutch nun buried under a fairground in Skegness. Using never before seen archive, animation, and interviews with the people who knew Mick personally, this story is brought to life through the eyes of his loving daughter, who grapples with her father’s bizarre legacy. Produced by Black Lobster Production with support from TG4 & Coimisiún na Meán.

Throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, Irish people were trading and intermarrying with native people and later fighting against them as part of the 7th Cavalry.
This film looks at the domino effect of colonialism, showing our journey into America from our perspective, and through the eyes of the people we displaced. Produced by Ronin Films with funding from TG4, NI Screen’s Irish Language Broadcast Fund and Coimisiún na Meán.

Ag Taisteal Siar Sunday 13th July 11.30am Pálás
Traveller music has been a defining force in Irish musical heritage since the ballad boom of the 1960s. As the music reached new heights, the Traveller way of life was undergoing profound change. The transition from life on the road to settled housing altered the social fabric that had long nurtured this tradition, challenging how music was passed down through the generations.
Ag Taisteal Siar explores the profound, and often overlooked contribution of legends such as Pecker Dunne, Maggie Barry and Johnny Doran to Ireland’s musical legacy. Featuring powerful performances and interviews with Kathleen Keenan, Sarah Dunne, Sharyn Ward, Niamh Dunne and Steo Wall, alongside original poetry written by Martin Warde. Produced by DoubleBand Films with support from ilDÁNA -The Arts Council, NI Screen’s Irish Language Broadcast Fund & Coimisiún na Meán.
Aontas Sunday 13th July 1.15pm Pálás
Three unlikely thieves, led by a woman on the verge of a breakdown, rob a rural Irish Credit Union. Opening in the tragic aftermath of the heist-gone-wrong, Aontas unfolds backwards, chapter by chapter to unravel the events that led to this point. What starts as a poorly executed robbery becomes a portrait of a wilful woman trapped in her own past. Aontas is directed by Damian McCann (Doineann) and stars Carrie Crowley (An Cailín Ciúin, Smother), Bríd Brennan (Shadow Dancer, Doineann) and Eva-Jane Gaffney (Kin, Harry Wild).
Produced by Órfhlaith Ní Chearnaigh (Aonaracht) and Christopher Myers (Doineann), written by Sarah Gordon and Damian McCann, this is the first feature from new bilingual company Púca Pictures. Aontas was funded by NI Screen’s Irish Language Broadcast Fund, BBC and TG4, with support from Yellowmoon.
