The popular soap returns to TG4 for a 17th season. A staple in the channel’s schedule since its establishment, it is the only television drama series set in rural Ireland and has won plaudits and favourable reviews for its ability to portray the realities of contemporary life in Ireland with humour and subtlety. It deals with the major issues, both complex and simple in an understanding way.
This season’s storylines continue with lots of local wrangling, gossip, love-stories that blossom and some that fade as well as all the wit and banter that is the daily stuff of social activity in shops, clubs and cafés throughout the country. Topical themes in this season’s Ros na Rún include love stories, financial troubles, family squabbles, murder, false and teenage pregnancy, and much more!
Some of the more dramatic storylines this season include a previously unknown twin sister whom arrives out of the blue to cause havoc and a stalker who returns to haunt a man on the eve of his wedding. Publican Tadhg and his son try to cover up a murder and Tina does her best to get Dara back from Caitríona.
Dara is released on bail and is shocked to discover that Caitríona is the one who paid it. He shows his appreciation through public humiliation. Jason returns to the village and is concerned about Tadhg s loyalty when he realises that he has reconciled with Frances.
Berni is called for tests as a possible bone marrow donor and despite her hesitation she pretends she d like to help out. Eager as always to assist, Cathal arranges an appointment for her to have the test done.
