TG4 have today announced that they will televise the World Para Swimming Allianz European Championships. Dublin 2018 will take place at the Sport Ireland National Aquatic Centre from Monday, August 13th until Sunday, August 19th with 2 sessions taking place each day; the heats get underway each morning at 10am and the finals will take place each evening beginning at 6pm except on Sunday, August 19th when the finals begin at 5pm.

TG4 will televise the Heats on all 7 days as the 8 person Irish team hope to secure their progress through to the evening’s finals, TG4 will also stream the finals sessions live on the TG4 player.

Speaking about the announcement of TG4’s coverage of Dublin 2018, LOC Chairperson, Miriam Malone, said ‘We are delighted that TG4 will show live coverage of Dublin 2018 that will be readily available and accessible for potential viewers throughout the country. This is an historic event for our country as Ireland hosts it’s first ever major international para sporting event. The 400 swimmers that will compete can truly inspire young Irish sports people to follow their sporting dreams and, thanks to TG4, they will be able to see that action from their own living rooms. I would like to thank Alan Esslemont and Rónán Ó Coisdealbha along with our colleagues in World Para Swimming for their enthusiasm in making this possible.’

Our ‘Súil Eile’, or alternative view, has always brought exciting events and alternative programmes to Irish audiences and this new partnership will ensure that people across the globe will have access to this feast of swimming excellence. We are looking forward to showcasing the top class sporting prowess of these elite athletes and of course we are all hoping that the Irish team can bring home a few medals at the end of the day”.

Patrick Flanagan, Ellen Keane, Ailbhe Kelly, Barry McClements, Jonathan McGrath, Sean O’Riordan, James Scully and Nicole Turner will be the 8 person Irish team that are set to go for gold. The team will find out their full programme for the championships next week.

Tickets for the World Para Swimming Allianz European Championships are available to purchase now at www.paralympics.ie . Morning session tickets will cost €5 for adults, €3 for Under 16’s, Family tickets (2 adults and 2 children) are €10 and Group tickets (2 adults and 8 children) are available at €25. Evening session tickets will cost €10 for adults, €3 for Under 16’s and Family Tickets are €20.

The World Para Swimming Allianz European Championships are supported by Paralympics Ireland, Sport Ireland, Swim Ireland and Fáilte Ireland.
