16.07.19

Deirdre Ní Choistín is currently Editor of TG4’s online video hub MOLSCÉAL. Molscéal was established in 2017, led by Deirdre, to create online short-form video content for TG4’s core audience.

Deirdre was also editor of online marketing campaigns for programmes such as ‘Bádóirí’, ‘Bailte’, ‘Glór Tíre’ and ‘Opry le Daniel’.

Deirdre has broad experience in TG4, beginning her career there aged 22 after graduating from NUIG’s Irish Language Higher Diploma in Media. She spent 14 years as a producer & director of TG4’s current affairs series ‘7 Lá’, as well as on programmes such as ‘Comhrá’, ‘Róisín’ and ‘Léirmheas Leabhar’.

Deirdre had a central role in all of TG4’s election programmes since 2002, working alongside Páidí Ó Lionáird, Breandán Delap and the Nuacht TG4 and 7 Lá production teams.

Speaking after today’s announcement, TG4’s Director of Marketing, Development and Partnerships, Lis Ní Dhálaigh, says:

“We welcome Deirdre Ní Choistín’s appointment to this role. Deirdre has extensive experience in many aspects of broadcasting and an in-depth understanding of TG4’s strategy and audience. She has worked as a Producer / Editor on both current affairs and entertainment programmes and has developed her skills in Content Marketing and Digital Communications through her work with both Molscéal and TG4.  I have no doubt that she will take on her new responsibilities with energy and commitment to ensure audience awareness  and engagement with TG4’s content and services.”

Deirdre grew up in Kilcock, Co. Kildare. Her father is from An Rinn, Co Waterford and her mother is from Borris, Co. Carlow.  She attended one of the country’s first Gaelscoil’s, Scoil Chearbhaill Uí Dhálaigh in Leixlip and went on to study Irish and French in Trinity College Dublin.

She is married to Breandán Ó Conláin from An Spidéal, where they now live with their four boys, Finian, Fiachra, Darach and Éanna.

Deirdre Ní Choistín takes up her new position in the middle of August.
