Antrim, Carlow, Fermanagh, Roscommon, Galway and Kerry aiming for 2026 TG4 All-Ireland Championship Honours

CAPTAINS from the six competing teams have gathered at Croke Park ahead of next Sunday’s (August 2nd) TG4 All-Ireland Ladies Football Championship Finals.
Next Sunday also marks a very special day as the LGFA and All-Ireland Championship sponsors, TG4, mark 25 years of partnership.
The very first All-Ireland Senior Championship final televised live by TG4 was the 2001 decider won by Laois against Mayo in a dramatic game.
During half-time in next Sunday’s TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate Final, the victorious Laois squad from 2001 will be acknowledged and presented to spectators.
With the countdown to the 2026 TG4 All-Ireland Finals continuing, the respective team captains Bronagh Devlin (Antrim), Róisín Bailey (Carlow), Shannan McQuade (Fermanagh), Helena Cummins (Roscommon), Kate Geraghty (Galway) and Síofra O’Shea (Kerry) visited Croke Park today.
The Senior Final, the 53rd in LGFA history, pits Galway against Kerry, with the counties set to meet for the second time in three seasons in the Brendan Martin Cup decider.
That game throws in at 4.15pm and is preceded by the Intermediate Final between Fermanagh and Roscommon (1.45pm) and the Junior Final between Antrim and Carlow (11.45am).
In the first game on the Croke Park triple-bill, Antrim will be aiming to atone for last year’s final defeat against Louth.
But the Saffrons won’t get anything easy from Carlow, who will next Sunday appear in their very first TG4 All-Ireland Final.
Antrim are three-time winners of the West County Hotel Cup, following previous successes in 2022, 2012 and 2009.
The winners of this final will play Intermediate Championship football next year.
Fermanagh and Roscommon, meanwhile, are eyeing promotion to the TG4 All-Ireland Senior Championship, as they prepare for the Intermediate Final.
Fermanagh have appeared twice in TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate Finals, losing out in 2014 and 2009, while this is a first final in this grade for Roscommon since they won the title in 2005.
That final 21 years ago was played at St. Loman’s in Mullingar, which means that Roscommon are back at Croke Park for the first time since 2001, when they defeated Kildare in the Junior decider.
In the Senior Final, there’s plenty at stake as Galway and Kerry renew acquaintances.
The teams met in the 2024 final, when victory for Kerry erased the painful memories of defeats in the 2022 and 2023 Finals, and sent the Brendan Martin Cup to the Kingdom for the first time since 1993.
Galway will aim to finish next Sunday’s game as TG4 All-Ireland Senior champions and, if they do, they’ll have collected just their second Senior crown, and first since 2004.
Victory for Kerry would move them on to 13 on the All-Time Roll of Honour, and two clear of Cork (11).
To whet the appetite of attendees and TV viewers ahead of Sunday’s Croke Park triple-header, TG4’s Ceiliúradh Pheil na mBan, presented by Máire Ní Bhraonáin, will air from 7.45pm on Saturday evening, August 1st.
The programme will visit all six counties playing in the Junior, Intermediate and Senior deciders.
This celebratory programme will feature music from each of the counties, a glance back to the 2001 All-Ireland Final, and current players reflecting on the 2026 Championships so far and looking ahead to Sunday’s big games.
