Meet the New Presenters and Reporters on Nuacht Cúla4

Today marks Cúla4’s 3rd birthday, and it is also Nuacht Cúla4’s first day back on air.
Nuacht Cúla4 is a news programme for young people, covering local, national and international news. Tune in to Nuacht Cúla4 from Tuesday to Friday at 1.30pm and again at 5.30pm, or catch up on cula4.com

Meet the new reporters on the Nuacht Cúla4 team:
 

Ciarán Ó Flaithearta
Ciarán is from Inis Mór, the largest of the three Aran Islands in Galway. He attended Scoil Eoin Pól II and Coláiste Naomh Éinne before completing his undergraduate degree in Journalism and Irish from the University of Galway. He has worked with Citylink, Balls.ie and with Spórt TG4. He gained lots of experience from these roles and the transferable skills he gained will be useful in the new role. Ciarán also co-hosts his own rugby podcast about all things Irish rugby. Ciarán is passionate about story telling and aims to tell the stories of the Gaeltacht through his native language! Ciarán Ó Flaithearta is based in the Connacht region for Nuacht Cúla4.
 

Níamh Ní Fhearáin
Níamh is from Inishowen, County Donegal. She went to Gaelscoil Cois Feabhail, where she fell in love with the Irish language. She has a degree in Irish from St Mary’s University College Belfast. She has worked with Fíbín Media, Comhairle na Gaelscolaíochta, and many Gaeltacht courses in Donegal. As a singer and a musician, she is passionate about traditional music. An Chéad Ghlúin Eile are her favourite singers.
She has a Professional Masters in Education degree with Marino Institute of Education and is a primary school teacher. She taught Senior Infants for two years in Dublin. She absolutely loves Irish and she thoroughly enjoys to inspire the language among the youth.
Níamh is a twin. She and her sister Aoife are very alike. Níamh really enjoys going to the beach and she loves the beautiful natural views of Ireland. She often goes running or walking along the coast. On a nice day, she likes to swim in the sea. Níamh Ní Fhearáin is based in the Ulster region for Nuacht Cúla4.
 

James Mac Éinrí
James McEnery is from Lurgan, Co. Armagh. He attended Bunscoil Naomh Proinsias and Coláiste Chaitríona. He graduated from Ulster University with a BA (Hons) in Irish with Computing. During his studies, he gained experience across Irish-language journalism, broadcasting and digital media through placements with RTÉ Gaeilge and Nuacht TG4. He has also worked with Raidió na Gaeltachta and the Celtic Media Festival as a presenter, reporter and content creator.
James is currently completing a Master’s degree in Cleachtas Gairmiúil sna Meáin at the University of Galway. He has a particular interest in journalism, storytelling and creating engaging Irish-language content for young audiences. James Mac Éinrí is based in the Leinster region for Nuacht Cúla4.
 

Caitríona Ní Ógáin
Caitríona is from Tír an Fhia in Co. Galway. She attended Tír an Fhia national school and Scoil Chuimsitheach Chiaráin secondary school in An Cheathrú Rua. She earned her undergraduate degree in Criminology from University College Cork while also achieving a certificate in digital marketing from South East Technological University Carlow. She has a special place in her heart for the promotion of the Irish language and media. Caitríona Ní Ógáin is based in the Munster region for Nuacht Cúla4.
 

Róisín Ní Chéileachair – Nuacht Cúla4 Presenter
Róisín is from Dún Chaoin parish in Kerry. Róisín has an interest in acting, singing and the Irish language. She attended Scoil Naomh Gobnait in Dún Chaoin, Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne in Dingle, and then University Galway where she earned a degree in Irish. She worked in RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta for three and a half years on the local news in the south of the country as a presenter, producer and reporter. She was a Nuacht Cúla4 reporter last year in Connacht and now she will present Nuacht Cúla4 in the studio. Róisín is passionate about promoting the Irish language, which she has spoken all her life.  Róisín adores storytelling and she loves watching movies. Her favourite movies are from the Marvel series. She often plays computer games, but also loves spending time outdoors, walking on beaches or in the hills, and she loves listening to music too!
 
 

About Cúla4

History was made on September 8th 2023 as the first ever dedicated Irish language children’s channel was launched. Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Catherine Martin was invited to the TG4 headquarters in Co. Galway to carry the official launch of the new TV channel.

Cúla4 airs for 14 hours daily, from 6 every morning until 8 every evening. Saorview – Channel 18, Channel 602 on Virgin Media, Sky 624 and Eir all carry the young people’s channel. Cúla4 is supported online via the player which is available at cula4.com and also the Cúla4 App.
