TG4 to broadcast Hurling for Cancer Research as almost 40 crew volunteer their time for charity event

Fogarty Fenwick to provide television production free of charge for eighth consecutive year as TG4 broadcasts star-studded charity match live from Carlow
 

TG4 will broadcast Hurling for Cancer Research 2026 live from Netwatch Cullen Park, Carlow on Monday, 24 August, as some of the biggest names in Irish sport come together for one of the most unique and worthwhile events in the sporting calendar.
 

Live coverage begins on TG4 at 19:15, ahead of the 19:30 throw-in, with the annual charity match proudly supported by Centra raising vital funds for cancer research through the Irish Cancer Society.
 

The event will also see an extraordinary contribution from those working behind the scenes to bring the action to viewers at home. Every member of the television production crew working on the TG4 coverage will give their time free of charge on the day, with almost 40 crew members having volunteered so far.
 

Production company Fogarty Fenwick: Television Production will also provide its services completely free of charge, continuing a remarkable commitment to Hurling for Cancer Research which will see the company produce the event for television for the eighth consecutive year without charge.
 

Fogarty Fenwick works closely with TG4 throughout the sporting year and produces programming including Sacar Beo and Cispheil Bheo, alongside a range of other productions for the channel.
 

The voluntary commitment of the production company and crew reflects the spirit that has made Hurling for Cancer Research such a special fixture since it was established by horseracing legends Jim Bolger and Davy Russell.

 
The event has raised almost €1.9 million for cancer research to date, with players, sporting personalities, organisers, volunteers and supporters coming together each year to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society and its life-saving research.
 

This year’s match will once again feature a remarkable collection of hurling, camogie and sporting stars.
Among those set to take part are Patrick Horgan, Noel McGrath, Lee Chin, Joe Canning, Austin Gleeson, Darragh O’Donovan, Walter Walsh, Tommy Walsh, Jackie Tyrrell, Grace Walsh and Ashling Thompson, alongside stars from other sports including Dublin footballer Con O’Callaghan and former Republic of Ireland international Stephen Hunt.
 

County rivalries will be put aside for the evening as Jim Bolger’s Stars take on Davy Russell’s Best, with entertainment and fundraising at the heart of an occasion that has become a firm favourite for players and supporters alike.

TG4’s coverage will bring the atmosphere from Netwatch Cullen Park to audiences around the country, while Spórt TG4’s social media channels will carry clips, highlights and updates from the event throughout the evening.
